The bell is very carefully and solidly made. First I thought the size and weight might be too much for our small boned Australian cattle dog, but that was not the case and it works just fine. Ordering was a breeze, too -- no button pushing or endless time on hold as Sandy, a real human being, picked up immediately and handled the whole order. That makes a big difference. Thanks.

The quality and sound are fabulous

Quinebaug's Rocket Van Mauser wears his #4 bell proudly for all of his upland hunting forays since his first "professional" outing in early 2016. He loves the way his hunting companion never becomes weary of the pleasant sound which carries quite a distance through leafy autumn woods, brush thickets and tall grass. Unaffected by charging through deep snow, his partner never loses his location and direction. The New England Bell is rugged, like Mauser, with it's improved attachment system and tough leather loop. He won't use any other bell. In addition to his utilitarian approach to hunting implements, Mauser has an eye for old-school fashion.

I bought this bell about a week ago and put it on my golden retriever puppy named Bruno. At first he was a little confused and didn't like the bell sound, but after a couple days he got used to it. Deer season is right around the corner where I live; and bruno looks a lot like another four legged brown furry animal that runs around in the woods, so I don't want him to get shot buy another hunter. It is also great when I am skunk hunting at night and I cant see him. It is also good to be able to hear him from away in thick brush if he is tracking a wounded deer. The number 4 Bell very loud. I can hear him from about 300 yards away if there is no wind rustling the tree leaves. The one thing I wish New England bells made was a matching dog collar with a brass nameplate and brass buckle. The leather and staples are very tough, and the bell is built like a tank. I would highly recommend this product over any other dog bell on the market!

The small pin holding the bell to the loop is just a poor design and did not work.Bell was lost on the second outing. Looks like others have had this same problem. Another problem is they do not stand behind their product. I had politely asked if they would replace the bell and they refused unless I bought another one. Very disappointing. I try and support small local companies but this just didn't work out in this case. Look else wear if you have an active dog or want a company that backs up its product with fair customer service.

This is our second bell from New England Bells and it's just what I need to keep track of my dog when we're out on our farm or in the woods. The first bell was a snap-on bell and it lasted a year but eventually she ambled through some dense brush that popped it off. The new bell is a sewn leather loop and it's a very easy on/off operation with her collar.

Number 4 dog bell stapled closure. Absolutely gorgeous leather and bell. Who says they don't make'em like the used to. Great product. A bit big on my beagle (I would go 2 or 3 for that sized dog). Would get another but he hates it so much he slows his pace so it wont ring so loud (laughing).

The #4 dog bells I received were beautiful brass and could be heard for a long distance. I would definitely recommend them to my friends!
